Governance refers to the promotion of democratic governance of public institutions at different levels, including guaranteeing voice and accountability, government effectiveness and transparency, rule of law and control of corruption. Effective institutions are an important prerequisite for sustainable development as well as for economic growth. They also contribute to political stability and promote a better human rights situation.
My expertise in governance issues is crosscutting. Through my doctoral studies I specialise in the governance issues at the national level, particularly on how the aid agencies can sustainably assist developing states in public administration reform. In practical terms this means I have experience in the analysis and assessment of policy implementation. Through my involvement in the planning and implementation of local development plans both at the district and village levels, I have gathered experience in the participatory consultation processes that forms the basis for this planning. I have familiarised myself with the means to strengthen existing governmental structures, including capacity-building of institutions and personnel.
